Influential choreographer Bob Fosse and acclaimed Broadway dancer Gwen Verdon begin a decades-long personal and professional partnership that changes the face of American entertainment, but they pay a price in their pursuit of greatness.
After saying goodbye to their parents, first-year suite mates Kimberly, Bela, Leighton and Whitney begin adjusting to college life. While Leighton falls out with her high school friends, Whitney clashes with a teammate, Kimberly struggles with culture shock and Bela guns for a coveted spot on the school's comedy magazine, the Catullan. Later, the girls head to an exclusive party to blow off some steam.
The first week of classes finds Kimberly feeling out of her league, while Leighton excels academically – but flounders in other areas. Disappointed by a tame start to the school year, Bela coaxes Kimberly into attending a naked party. Meanwhile, Whitney confronts Coach Dalton about his deception and attempts to broker peace with her soccer rival.
Following her drunken escapade, Leighton is forced to do community service at the campus women’s center. Meanwhile, Kimberly connects with Nico during a tutoring session, Bela dips her toe in the local dating app pool, and Whitney seeks to take her relationship with Dalton to the next level.
After attending a pre-rush brunch for the most exclusive sorority on campus, Leighton forces herself to go on a date with a boy, while Whitney confides in Willow about her relationship with Dalton. Then, with Kimberly by her side, Bela speaks her mind at a high-profile Catullan alumni event.
In her efforts to prove a point, Leighton inadvertently invites the members of the women’s center to Nico’s frat party, where Kimberly digs into an elusive comment left on her latest ‘gram. Things get weird when Bela crashes a Catullan gathering, and Whitney’s attempts to expose discrimination within the school’s athletic department have unexpected consequences.
After reuniting with their parents for the first time since move-in day, the girls struggle through an awkward family dinner. While Kimberly stresses over the bill, Leighton tries to calm her nerves, Bela plays the part of a neuroscience major, and Whitney’s crushed by another let-down.
Kimberly discovers the thrill of casual sex with Nico – at the expense of her busy schedule. As she anxiously awaits the Catullan’s final decision, Bela dodges unwanted advances from one of the editors. In an effort to get over Dalton, Whitney cozies up to Canaan, while Leighton takes the next step with Alicia.
As she wraps up her stint at the women’s center, Leighton plans Nico’s surprise birthday party – where an unexpected deception sends Kimberly reeling. After a fellow Catullan writer confides in her about a shared experience, Bela worries she may have mishandled the situation. A rumor about Dalton threatens to implode Whitney’s world.
