While Dr. Robby attempts to distract himself from the anniversary of his mentor’s death, Dr. Collins tries to push through her shift with morning sickness. After fainting at the sight of a brutal injury, 20-year-old med student Victoria Javadi fights to prove herself in “The Pitt.”

Robby helps a pair of siblings navigate their elderly father’s advance directive. Later, Samira fends off cops targeting a woman with a misunderstood condition, Whitaker tries to revive a patient, and Javadi discovers more about Dr. McKay’s complicated past.

After Whitaker struggles with a patient, Samira vows to keep him off the path that led to her own problems navigating emergency medicine. Nick Bradley’s teen overdose case sets off a powder keg of emotions – as his parents cling to hope.

While helping a patient’s family cope with loss, Robby struggles with memories of his mentor’s final days. As the staff bets on the whereabouts of a stolen ambulance, Santos learns a hard lesson, Mel struggles with her bedside manner, and Whitaker falls victim to a psych patient known as “The Kraken.”

Both Santos and Collins deal with their own moral – and legal – quandaries. Samira’s careful approach earns praise from patients – and reproach from Robby. Javadi unintentionally upends McKay’s attempts to help an unhoused patient.

Mel attempts to locate the daughter of an elderly patient as Collins finds herself in the middle of a battle between a pregnant teen, an understanding aunt, and a less forgiving mother. Meanwhile, Robby faces an ultimatum from the hospital, and Santos has her ego checked.

After attending to a beauty influencer suffering a strange disconnection from reality, Samira pushes against Robby’s instructions and follows her own instincts. Later, Santos fights her own battle against a patient accused of assaulting his teenaged daughter.

Robby attends to an elderly patient in need of a new pacemaker, who reveals his past as a member of Pittsburgh's groundbreaking Freedom House program. Meanwhile, Langdon and the team tend to a young drowning victim, Santos follows a hunch, and McKay attempts to treat a patient with an overbearing boss.

After an emotional debrief from Robby on a difficult case, Dana breaks up a waiting room brawl between two moms. Then, Whitaker finds common ground with "The Kraken," and a car crash between a pedestrian and a former patient puts pressure on McKay.

With the Pitt down a staff member, Robby looks to his team to pick up the slack. While Whitaker supports the wife of a burn victim, Samira takes lead on a young gamer suffering from a stroke, McKay finds her ex in the ER, and Santos finally voices her suspicions about a colleague.

As Collins guides a surrogate through a difficult delivery, Robby does his best to keep a developing staffing situation under wraps. Meanwhile, McKay confronts her ex’s overstepping girlfriend, and Whitaker watches Samira sniff out a drug-seeking patient.

As dozens of critical patients flood the ER, Robby and his team struggle to keep up amid quickly diminishing supplies. Later, Javadi's fast thinking impresses a key surgeon, and Mel keeps tabs on an injured mother and son.

As the night shift begins and the death toll rises, Robby refuses to give up on a mass casualty victim – even after Abbott intervenes. Unable to find an attending, Santos and Samira each attempt risky moves to save their patients’ lives.

As the ER begins to quiet down, Robby struggles to cope with a loss, while Abbott and Samira are challenged by a patient’s rapidly deteriorating condition. Later, McKay deals with the fallout from a tough decision, and Mel treats a teen with a mysterious rash.

As the day shift prepares to finally head home, Robby resorts to unorthodox methods to convince the father of a critically ill teen to allow treatment. Meanwhile, Samira experiences an adrenaline high, Santos tries to keep a young man from slipping through the cracks, and Whitaker searches for a missing patient.
