When Michael and Janet's youngest daughter, Kady, catches them fighting, the couple agree to try marriage counseling.

At a family meeting, where all crimes can be confessed and no punishment meted out, Janet confesses that she spilt soda down the back of Michael’s expensive new stereo.

Claire is mean to Kady - Michael and Janet must make their daughter realize that Claire's behavior now will influence the type of person Kady will grow up to be.

Michael and his son play basketball, and when Jr. beats his dad he starts being disrespectful, referring to his dad as ‘old man’. As a result, Michael challenges his son to another game.

Michael Jr. changes his report card, giving himself an 'A' in algebra, instead of an 'F.' Claire catches her brother changing his card but, in exchange for a CD, agrees to keep her mouth shut.

Michael Jr. is being bullied at school by George Blake, so the Kyles invite Mr and Mrs Blake over for wine in order to suss out George’s weaknesses.

Michael and Janet manage to upset one another by not listening to what the other is saying. They’re both so caught up in what they were doing that they both manage to get the things they’d promised to do wrong.

Michael and Janet try to spice up their love life, as they both feel the spark has gone out if it. When Michael’s brother and his young girlfriend arrive for dinner, Ken extolls the virtues of dating younger women, much to the disgust of the Kyle women.

Michael’s friend and accountant, Tom, is killed in a traffic accident five minutes after Michael left a meeting with him. Michael realizes how lucky he is to be alive and starts showering his loved ones with gifts and affection.
