About this Show
Cannibal Poet
When José Luis Calva Zepeda was arrested in 2007, police raided his Mexico City apartment, where they discovered a gruesome scene: the dismembered body of his girlfriend and evidence of cannibalism. Known as one of the most notorious serial killers in recent Mexican history, Calva was given the nickname "The Cannibal Poet" for his diametric personalities -- one as a charismatic aspiring writer interested in the arts and another as a ruthless killer capable of horrific crimes. But before his trial and amid an ongoing investigation, Calva was found dead in his cell by an apparent suicide. Seventeen years later, journalist Luis Brito decides to delve deeper, interviewing those closest to the case to uncover new insights, other potential victims, and how a seemingly ordinary man could be capable of such monstrous acts.
