Vanished

I completely loved the whole show. It's unfortunate that it ended, perhaps the marketing was bad because if I would have known about it, I would have loved to watch it every week. I was enthralled with the plot and it constantly kept me guessing. I didn't matter to me that the characters changed over, I thought it was a smooth change and worked out beautifully. The way the plot always twisted you never knew who really was the bad guy, but it was very much deepened by the discovery and attainment of the ancient decoding wheel to translate the Dead Sea Scrolls. I LOVED THIS SHOW, I HOPE THEY BRING IT BACK.

I was shocked to find such a fantastic show that I previously knew nothing about. If Fox had properly marketed this show, maybe it wouldn't have been cancelled before coming to any real conclusion. Still worth watching in my opinion, 12 episodes of absolute suspense. Even better than 24!

I should have shut it off when the killed off the main Character played by Gale Harold. Any good writer would not get rid of the staple actor. And I was right, not only were his acting shops missed but the show just tanked after he was killed off.
It just turned into unanswered questions, scenes that were dragged out. In the end my family felt cheated out of all the time we spent watching it.
So Unless you want to see it for a certain actor or actress you enjoy I wouldn't bother with this. It is very good at first then tanks badly.
Replacing Kelton was LAME, then many storylines went unanswered or just silly.

The first episode was kind of meh... but the second one was better, then the third was better and now after the fourth, I'm hooked!

There's some stuff that is a little formulaic and some really bad dialog, but I find that kind of thing funny, so it only adds to the the appeal. The plot is perplexing and the characters are inscrutable, ala Twin Peaks or Damages. I'm not really sure who knows what or who's good or bad or what anyone's motivation is, so at this point, I'm along for the ride - I don't know how it's going to turn out, except that it's going to end abruptly according to all the other reviewers.

If you like this of show, with ambiguous characters and lots of build up to some pretty good dramatic scenes, then I think you'll like this - don't analyze it too much - just watch it

The problem is it wasn't finished, and didn't answer any questions about the show.

That's the main thing to get, before you watch it. So you're left hanging. There's a lot of set up for some really big conspiracies, and those might have panned out to be interesting, but you'll never know.

I enjoyed this show. This too was a showed that kept me guessing, just not as well as some of this ilk. Likeable. You'll probably figure it out.

I believe Happy Town was written originally as a miniseries. The full story was given over the eight episodes. But I do think the universe developed in the show could have filled at least another season. I thoroughly enjoyed Happy Town, and for those who do not mind the short story format, I also recommend The Lost Room, which stars Peter Krause (Six Feet Under, Parenthood), as well as Elle Fanning. Unfortunately, Hulu does not appear to have picked up this gem of a story. It is available to rent through Netflix if you have it.
