The Universe

There's not much mystery left to the story of disappearance of the Mayans. They succumbed to war & destruction of their environment & abandoned their cities. Their civilization destroyed itself. It's not the mystery it was 40 years ago.

It's a matter of requiring substantial & real evidence & being willing to change your mind. The scientific method is particularly helpful. Too often in these times, experts with reams of research and evidence are brushed off by individuals with opinions & nothing more. No one knows everything,but we must follow the evidence, and the evidence we collect from vast amounts of research & observation allows us to understand a universe far beyond our moon.   See 40 other replies

Not that I buy into this whole 2012 thing or anything like that, but just out of curiousity do you have any idea exactly what happened to the Mayans and I don't mean some theory on what you think happened. What actually did happen? As far as that goes let's take it a step further. Can you tell me for certain with out a doubt that all of what we think we know is 100% accurate or that when we look up to the night sky, we honestly know how exactly what we are looking at and how it relates to us with 100% certainty. We as a species can't even physically travel past our own moon at the present time, but yet we can explain how something as complex as the universe was formed, how big it is, how many galaxies exist in it etc. I think we have gotten a little ahead of ourselves, as far as what we actually know. None of use truely understand anything for certain outside of our own solar system, so anything's possible. Hell we can't even say for certain that we fully understand our own planet or it's origin. Do I honestly believe that anything will happen on 2012? Of course not, but I also am not going to be so arrogant as to pretend that I know that for a fact that I am right, and that other people are childish or stupid for believeing what they do, because when it comes to understanding something like how life or the universe was created, or how it will end, and when you take into account what we actually know for a fact as opposed to what we don't know.
