And how would they find that out? From the board, all those other guys onstage who they want to put in jail? Do you think they'd believe anything they say? The more they put down Michael the more they're going to like him.
And I don't agree. As the branch manager for Scranton, Michael is the most successful,. perhaps the ONLY successful executive in the whole company. That's a long way from being "all talk".
Michael was the only person on that stage who wasn't "all talk". No one else even wanted to come up with a plan, or take any action at all. They just wanted to sugar-coat the truth for the stockholders, make empty promises and coast on as long as possible, until the time came to pull the ripcords on their golden parachutes.
Personally, I believe Oscar when he says that there's a lot of positive steps that could be taken, even if he was intimidated (and who wouldn't be?) when he had his chance to confront the board. Oscar is the smartest, most aware person in all the fictional DMI universe. Michael wants to use Oscar's ideas.
Micheal didn't lie to the shareholders. He simply believed that they could come up with a plan. I think he could have, if left to his own devices. It was the board who kept that from happening. He overstepped his authority, but he was the only person on that stage who exhibited real leadership. Knowing everything I know, if I had a controlling interest in DMI, I would get rid of the board, put Michael in charge, and hire Jim to keep him away from microphones.
Anyway, I can't see the future, so I would never say that is definitely what's going to happen but anyone who thinks that it definitely couldn't happen is just plain wrong.
