the movie is great

Why just clips and not the whole movie? Doesn't make any sense.

You forgot?

I agree with all your comments/ratings. The Day the Earth Stood Still will be a movie that will be long to be forgotten as a defining point of its gerne. But, the one movie that also makes the list and should be considered a star of that time was "Forbidden Planet". I only regret that I was 4 years old when the movie came out, so I was too young to be Anne Francis' dress designer. Wow!

the day the earth stood still

I seen this movie as a young child in the 60s and rememberd it through time such as i have others that do not appear here. it is a great flick for the time it was made. I have this on vcr tape and on dvd i have had it for about 7 years on dvd. If you get the chance and your a sci-fi buff as i am watch this movie no disappointment. And another o ne that is great made in the late 50s is It Came From Outer Space.

Classic Sci-Fi Cinema Americana

Guess there is a reason, but not have the whole movie and just these few clips seems criminal. A thinking man's Sci-Fi with enough mystery and action to keep it from being all Sci and no Fi. Don't get me wrong thought...I love a good big explosion, giant monster and laser pistol shoot out like any other fan too.

Best Sci-Fi Movie ever

The Day The Earth Stood Still was the best Sci-Fi movie ever made. That includes the ones still popping up today. As Klaatu stated in the ending "keep going the way you are and your planet will be reduced to a burned out cinder"
