Maybe that's one of its odd paradoxical virtues. I could never relate to news radio in the technical sense, but I'm sure that's true of most people that enjoy this not entirely evasive diversion from the premise.
In my estimation: an odd combination of brilliant writing, unmatched cast, and network interference, the last of which seems to be popularly responsible for the show's failure at both it's onset and its demise. But 'demise' is too heavy of a word here. In syndication and all it's reincarantions (from DVD to Hulu), the show seems to be enjoying a new life, even though it might not be generally considered a mainstay in TV culture (e.g. 'positive reinforcement' doesn't work in and of itself, raymond [who said, more or less, ok I hate the name but let's just go with it anyway, mr. paycheck. and subsequently, neither does 'negative,' chris, who also said, 'ride that [explitive deleted] and thank you, mr. paycheck, all the way to the bank!'] hey, we're supposed to be educated consumers, remember? not mindless fellow-horses gorging on Mr. Ed's feedbag. Now why do I suddenly sound like some tv-sitcom narrator?)
If you hate TV shows in general like I do, then I dare you to give this show a fair shot, by which I mean at least 1-5 episodes. You should just keep in mind that this show was hated by the network because they are completely hostile to 1) anything that will not sell them air time 2) usually anything that is extremly creative fun and radical 3) cast inconsitency problems beyond the help of the creators.
