Hikaru no Go

Great story and series on an otherwise obscure game for most of us!GO isn't that popular outside of Japan and several Asian countries, but this series does present it in a very good way.
I thought it was going to be a little comedic due to the nature of the game (think Mahjong like Saki), but I'm glad I stuck with it.
(Speaking of Mahjongg, this series is more like Legendary Gambler Tetsuya - too bad Hulu doesn't offer that series at this point in time.)
This is one series that should have no problem continuing if the project groups gets the funding.
It would be kinda cool to see Shindo battle up to a title while crossing paths with Akira on the way there.
Add all the other engaging characters, and this could be another long series if they wanted to.
They hint of a Junior Cup between Japan - Korea - China would make for an awesome storyline.
The fact that they extended the original series with episodes 61 through 75 might give us hope there's still a chance...

I have 5 favorite stories in this world so far. Hikaru no Go is in that list. I didn't know anything about Go when I stumbled on this series a couple years ago. Not only was it successful in it's goal of generating interest in the game, it was done with such great story telling, character development, artistic expanse and quality. I cannot help but try to share it with anyone who let's me tell them about it. It's hard to find good stories that inspire you which do not deal necessarily with good vs. evil. HnG is a diamond in the rough in this regard. Whenever I feel the need to re-ignite my own personal flame in life with some solid good inspiration, Hikaru no Go is top quality and I find myself sucked into the storyline all over again. I lost count how many times I've re-watched this series. Whether you are into anime, Go, the artwork or finding inspiring stories, Hikaru no Go is definitely worth spending some time on. 5 stars, for certain!

This show is fantastic! Even though the characters are middle-schoolers (playing a board game), the episodes are some of the most intense I have ever watched. I grew attached to the characters and story really quickly. The great thing about this show is that it is pretty realistic. The character developement is incredible. Nobody is just naturally amazing-- they all work hard to fulfill their dreams. Another great thing is the music. I LOVE the music. It's fits the situation perfectly, it gets you soo pumped up for the matches. I really, really, encourage everyone who likes anime to watch this. I did not ever regret spending the time to watch it. :] Enjoy!

Hikaru no Go is a very unique anime. I never would have thought an anime about a board game could be so engaging and captivating. I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend everyone give it a try!
