Description

Light Yagami is an ace student with great prospects and he's bored out of his mind. But all that changes when he finds the Death Note, a notebook dropped by a rogue Shinigami death god. Any human whose name is written in the notebook dies, and now Light has vowed to use the power of the Death Note to rid the world of evil. It can easily be said that Light had a mastery of social influence and conformity. He created a situation in which people were made to conform to whatever he wanted them to. And as intelligent and good as most people are, EVERYONE--without exception--is very vulnerable to social influence. Look up the infamous Zombardo Prison Experiment or the Milgram Shock Experiment, and you'll understand exactly why otherwise smart people would fall for something so obviously sinister. Great anime, loved all of it except the ending and some of the middle episodes. Definitely worth the watch.

Some people are right, don't read some of the other reviews, they contain spoilers, i had been watching this on and off when it was on [AS] but only got a chance to finally sit down and watch it here on hulu, the only complaint is like most the delivery of the subs, yes it does cut into the art and scene but i think this was the only way they could obviously get it done this is a great show and worth the watch

also check out the two Live Action movies, i consider them to be within the spirit of the animes

well said.

i think for the most part people wanted to believe that light was good from the start because he was an upstanding student. but like you said he was just looking for an excuse to kill basically.

just as a point. look how at no point in the beginning did he want to interact with anyone. than as soon as he had his lab (DN) he started to make Guinna pigs.
he even went as far as to booby trap his own room!

but overall this was a great character very well played.
