I agree that they definitely need to keep current with the subtitled episodes. If they want to prevent fansubbing and earn money they need to at least keep within a few weeks of the Japanese release. I don't understand the episode lag, and the irregular updating. Surely it's not taking their translation team that long, they need to have the scripts translated to even dub the episodes, so they should have them done for at least up to the episodes they are showing on cartoon network, and it wouldn't be so hard for them to get it done for episodes after that. If a bunch of amateurs can sub an episode within 24 hours of it's release and host it online for free surely they can find a way to do it for cheap. I don't see how they think that hosting the episodes on hulu will make them much money if they can't even update regularly.
I really don't see the point in releasing Japanese episodes after the English ones have aired anyway. If you watch dubs, then you are going to wait for the dub, but those that prefer the subtitled version are notoriously impatient (and who can blame them if they would have to wait years for a DVD release?), and who is going to wait when you can see it online for free? There are at least 30 sites that host fansubbed versions where they are done professionally and quickly. You can't hope to compete with that the ways things are going now. See 5 other replies

naruto shippuden on dota utilities, and bleach get and they seem to be translated very well and when i go to see naruto shippuden episodes on VIz.com the subtitles are the same from the illegal websites and oh you can watch it on bleachget.com and they jump in and out of the real story two more times so even the people who are on episode 293 it is just filler arc the manga and the show are to close together. but dont worry some of the fillers are ten times better then this whole bount bull crap, but what sucks even more the real story is so good it on goes about 10 episodes then filler then another 12 episodes and then another 20 episodes of filler.And oh one last thing i am a big anime fan so i dont understand when people say they like the manga better then the anime it is the exact same thing image for image word for word (other then filler) so get over it and read if you so choose but some things just dont give you such emotions as the anime (Naruto shippuden Jiriya dying in the manga and in the anime to different emotions and it is a lot more emotional through the anime) sub vs. dub who cares i think i speak for most of the real fans out there "it doesnt matter to me as long as i get to follow the story", ok have fun enjoy guys.
