As a single father raising a three-old daughter, I would have to agree with Jess. I'm not perfect. I've been in jail. Long story short...I was caught shoplifting when I was 19, put on probation (since it was my first offence), but did it again (and got caught - again, while on probation) instant jail (45 days). Since then I've been a good boy. And now, 31 - I would like to think a loving, protective father who wants nothing but the best for my little girl.Ok...getting back to point. When I was in jail for those 45 days with the "scum" of society. I conversed with many "convicts". In JAIL they have a special place for sex offenders - because even convicts have "lines" they wouldn't cross. Many convicts I spoke with were fathers, and a sex offender (namely a child rapist) would get shanked instantly if put in the general population.Hmm...I believe rapists, especially child molesters/rapists are THE SCUM of society. I ask anyone...what would you do if you step in S***? You would scrape it off...get rid of it.Sex offenders = S***. Think about it.

Nigel: You are so moronic and completely devoid of even the most basic fact checking I'm not going to bother with your response.Jess: Though wanting these things is natural, It's ultimately not about what these guys deserve, it's about what the rest of us deserve. And the rest of us deserve to walk the streets knowing that every person who has ever commited heinous acts is not walking amongst us. Unfortunately none of us get this because of people like Nigel above who are always willing to back up their own child molesting ways and their child molestor friends by trying to make the point that non-tax payers are worse than he is and that those are the guys we really need to put behind bars forever. Utlimately it doesn't matter what happens to these people as long as they are kept away from everyone else. Whether that's done through life in prison or death doesn't really matter. The last 3 major killings of child molestors in America were all done by law people. 2 Lawyers and one person who worked in a police station. This makes sense because they know more than anyone the slap on the wrist that these guys get when they are convicted so they felt the only way they'd really get justice for their children is by putting their own careers at risk and taking matters into their own hands.

in my opinion, if u go to jail for commiting a crime such as but not limited to : sex offending, animal abuse, child abuse etc. etc. i think u should b locked in a room and have whatever crime u commited done to you! a child can never get its innocence back , a animal can't speak and a baby still in the womb can't tell u if its hurting, i think we should go back to public hangings...so what if its cruel and unusuall punishment they deserve it

I was reading all the comments that have been written on this show and it seems many of you have forgotten or don't even know why John Walsh started this show. I remember hearing of the story (and after reviewing it on Wikipedia - I would recommend everyone to read it - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Walsh). John Walsh had the opportunity to work on this show after the 1981 kidnapping and death of his first son, Adam.In my opinion, John Walsh is helping law enforcement by broadcasting the mug shots of the criminals. By the way - John Walsh got salvation in 2008 when the criminal/serial killer confessed on his death bed. Also, when you go shopping, when you enter a store and you a see a sticker "CODE ADAM" - it was named after his son.
"someone on TV said..." It seems like youra typical American who believes That Child molesters get days in jail, and they are everywhere, becauses the Tv said so.... People who avoid taxes, are commiting robbery. Where are you getting these andecotes? oh wait TV. It's funny, in the end we will die by the massive pollution we create everyday, yet polluters never get jail time only a possible citation. Polluters should be put down.

You're wrong Vas. The point of the justice system SHOULD be prevention, but unfortunately for us the point is actually vengence. The courts decide that a sex crime deserves a short amount of jail time EVEN though they KNOW grade 3 sex offenders and all child molesters WILL do it again. Statisically within 6 months of their release. Even in the legal language the terms "punishment", "served their debt to society" "justice was served" etc... those are not terms used of a system dedicated to prevention but punishment only. As far as the courts are concerned a child molestor who raped an 8 year old has been "punished" appropriately after a few months in jail so they let him out knowing full well he'll be doing it again. Prevention is not much of a factor in our justice system at all. You're seriously comparing tax evasion to rape? You're either a molestor your self or you're just one of those people who like to argue for no reason other than argue having really nothing of value to add. I stated that people go to jail longer for tax evasion than they do raping children to make a point and that is your lame response? You're trying to make this a conversation about tax evasion now? Pathetic attempt at debate again I see. While people like you are around these pervs will continue to have their fun on your children. And as for your comment about getting rid of the procedures- very rarely are people who kill child molestors for reasons of molestation prosecuted. Those that are prosecuted get a slap on the wrist. Even when premeditation is considered. So the courts themselves don't mind getting rid of the procedures when it happens.

The American obsession with anything sex related. Killing someone is much more expensive than keeping them in prison, unless of course we get rid of all the procedures and give Annie and Christian a gun and promise not to prosecute them for murder. Just because you think something, doesn't make it true. The point of the justice system is not vengeance, it's to be used as a deterrent and to "rehabilitate" individuals (not very successful, unfortunately). You might think tax evasion is not a big deal, but if people didn't pay their taxes there wouldn't be any money for the police to protect you.
