I am with you 100% on this Chris. I just wanna see some people do some ridiculously awesome things. Flips, magic acts, songs, dance... heck, i even get annoyed at the played up story and the performances of teh people who genuinely are horrible. Its funny... for a second.This is one of the reasons i really don't dig the Olympics as well. I don't care if some guy came from an orphanage, and had to work 12 hour shifts with school and practice, i just wanna see if he can do a triple axle!And what bugs me most is when i see half a second of someone that looks interesting! Like the robot dancers... i wanted to see what they were all about... except so much of the show was people that are horrible, and backstory about a kid who got picked on in school.   See 6 other replies

they do it so you create a relationship with the person you are watching, so that you want to watch more and see how their life was changed by this tv show, making this tv show glamourous, so you can tell all your friends. blah blah blahi'm so with you, but it's smart on their part to include it for viewers sake, or to make money which everything is about.   See 6 other replies

Christopher G., I happen to agree with you. I don't like and can do without the maudlin back stories. I find them to be like the old show "Queen For A Day" where the women would come out and tell their "heartbreaking" stories and whoever had the worst life won all the prizes.   See 6 other replies

The show wouldn't be nearly as interesting without some backstory drama. I do agree that they can overdo it from time to time, though. If anything, I could do with fewer throwaway acts. Sure, abject failure can be entertaining, but some of the failures are just boring (e.g. Joe the impressionist).   See 6 other replies
