American Dad!

I think the website hasn't grown enough or had enough experience to begin charging users money to watch a few episodes of your favorite shows. Something they do not seem to realize is that, with he recession, many people are looking for budgets and don't want to spend in areas that are not needed. (Especially entertainment) If they go through with this, the viewer base will plummet and may even lose money with no users at all. Even one of hulu's quotes was, "Watch your favorites, Anytime. Free."
In a nutshell, this is not a good idea for hulu and they will experience huge downturns if they go through with this decision.   See 10 other replies

This is the new format, and I hope Hulu can make it work without a subscription. I have two, dual tuner DVRs, and a HTPC with software to be a PVR. Hulu just lets me be lazy... why spend the time recording shows when I can just hop on Hulu? Now I'll just start to record them on cable, and skip all of the advertising all together. The industry should make this format work... I'm perfectly willing to watch 2 minutes of advertising during a show in 30 second breaks... but I'll skip every commercial recorded on my DVR. Heck, my PVR has software that automatically eliminates advertising. I'm not going to pay for Hulu and cable though... I'm just not THAT lazy. The industry in general is screwed up anyways... why am I paying for 100 channels? I want to subscribe to like 6 channels... that's capitalism. Let me subscribe to individual channels... heck, even individual shows, and may the best content win. That's why I like Hulu, but it still lacks cable content I want, and in the battle between Hulu and cable... cable will win in this household. Now, continue to increase content, allow me to stream to my mobile phone (320*240, 50mb avg. data use for 20-22 minutes or less), and make the charge cheap... and you might start to convince me.Cheers,

If Hulu is going to charge, they should offer some sort of benefit for people who pay. Slacker.com gives you the option to listen commercial free if you pay the subscription fee, OR you can listen for free but you have to listen to the commercials too.... Exactly.....the only reason me, and everyone (who uses this site) actually uses it, is because it's is free.....My advise is= if you want to get into a market and make money without adding any substancial thing to the kinds of things that are offered already, why not try health insurance, it seems to be a huge industry in America   See 10 other replies
