Action

I watched this when it first aired, and the Tucson Fox affiliate bounced it to midnight by the 3rd episode, COMPLETELY misunderstanding the 'ahead of it's time' genius of the show ! I bought the dvd when it came out a few years ago, and I have to say...wish they'd given us the option of watching it as it was originally aired...WITH the bleeps. It was actually funnier that way. Go figure!In any case, just tragic that this show got axed...it was the best thing Jay Mohr ever did. Every time I accidentally catch 5 minutes of that crapfest he's been sentenced to now (the one where he's a divorced dad), I want to WEEP ! He's so funny. What a waste of talent. I hope he gets lucky again someday.

Peter is riding in the back of his limo to the premiere of his latest action blockbuster, which he knows is garbage. He's worried literally sick.
PETER: I'm gonna vomit, stop the car ...
The car screeches to a halt by the curb, where WENDY, in full streetwalker garb, happens to be standing. PETER flings the car door open and leans out.
WENDY: Hi! Ya wanna date?
PETER (looking up at her from his hunched position): I'm gonna throw up on your shoes!
WENDY: Gee, I don't think I have a price for that.Well, you have to see it to get the full impact. But trust me, it kills!

I adored this show when it first aired, and mourned its early demise. There was real promise, had it been picked up by Showtime as originally planned instead of being bounced around on the FX network, usually paired with "Son of the Beach". Even these few episodes are brilliant, with the exception of the uneven final episodes because everyone was angry about being canceled and Illeana Douglas inexplicably got upset about playing a hooker and had to be replaced temporarily. I mean, hello, what part did you try out for? What did it say on your contract?A friend brought "Action" over on DVD a couple of months ago, knowing nothing about it, and I just about fell over trying to get it into the player as fast as possible. Everyone in the household has laughed out loud at this show, whether they initially wanted to watch it or not. Clever, harsh, timely and downright mean, this show goes great with sour grapes, especially if you've ever worked in the industry.Hi, I'm Jennifer, I'm an addict, it's been 30 seconds since I updated my Hulu playlist...

But the concept of the show is bad.
