C'mon. Use your heads. The chefs (especially those who lose) are in a no-win situation. But they're putting their reputations on the line to win some bucks for charity. They risk embarrassment enough when they don't manage to pull off what they're trying to do. They don't need "critics" to savage them and possibly hurt their businesses. Notice also that the critics are 2 food writer/ editors and Gael Greene -- whose anonymity is completely blwon by appearing in public. (Which si OK, since she hasn't been anonymous for years.) So the chefs have to approach this as not life and death. And the judges have to be gentle in their criticism. Notice that most of the "criticism" does not focus on anything that might be critical of the chef's restaurants. Just accept this as a goof. The chefs are having fun and maybe raising awareness of who they are and their restarants (which would cost a lot if they had to pay for the PR) AND they're potentially raising money for charity. It's entertainment. As for passionate judges on the regular show -- the game is totally different. The judges are the superstars of the business as well as the regulars (who are invested in the success of the show.) And the contestants are in it to make a reputation for themselves.
