Mary Tyler Moore stars in THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW, one of the most realistic, well written and enduring situation comedies of all time. The supporting cast is one of the best ever ensembled for a sitcom.
THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW is one of the most influential in television history. The show spawned more successful spinoffs (Lou Grant, Rhoda and Phyllis) than any other sitcom in history, and its creative alumni have created such shows as The Simpsons, The Cosby Show and Cheers.

I was born in 1965 and brought up in Ireland. Never really into MTM as too young. But it was part of the fabric of my formative years. Somehow it has left a mark that recalls happiness, innocence and family. In ireland I recall it aired at early evening around 6-7pm. Somehow it left its mark. Why is this? I am a 70's buff. No doubt. I am at an age now where I see it as a golden age. No internet, no mobiles no twats on twitter. I know about rose tinted spectacles but there are some qualities in this program that confound its 40 year embers. Is it the characters, the situations, the writing, the production team? Is it Mary ? I feel the best TV comes with perfect casting. So this must be the starting point. Today I can only think of Seinfeld or Curb as its peers. Its odd but I have only found MTM show over the past 2 months. Safe to say I never thought about it once in 30 Years. Now I feel driven and inspired by it. Decided to watch it from the beginning (so thank you HULU). Its a 30min life affirming transfusion. So far I can say MTM is unique. Was she this perfect in life? Some of her spirit must inhabit the programme. Something in me wants to think so but a 2010 voice says no. But what a gift this series is. Why is it so good. . . . ?
