i like how the OG one ends. this one ends in confusion and questions, SPOILER!!!!!!!!!
the older one ends in telepathic angelic beings who come out of a crystal like cathedral/cavern and worship the doomsday device. though i do like how in the end they kill all of "those damn dirty apes!" in the new one, we just end up loosing See 5 other replies

What, are you serious??
Movies are meant to invoke emotions and instill in us a greater sense of ourselves, our world and our society. Like all forms of expression. The original "Planet of the Apes" was amazing this, well, was not. Movies are not meant for escape, only the bad ones are. See 5 other replies

I am also confused by that. It seems almost like they couldn't decide which ending to use, so they just put both in. Maybe it is supposed to be that he really did go back in time, and his ship crashing was responsible for life on earth in the first place, and his meddling changed history, so that humans never became the dominant species, but I have never read the book either, so some of these questions might be answered in it.
