It's not a rip off, as much as it (Vanilla Sky) is a remake. From Wikipedia "The film is a "very close remake" of the 1997 Spanish film Open Your Eyes (Abre los Ojos)"

be aware that the movie is Spanish with English sub-titles. Matters to me because I usually watch while doing other things and don't have the concentration for sub-titles.

Awesome movie.

I thought this movie was awesome. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. It has a strange and unexpected twist. The ending was thrilling.

Strange, but excellent.

Yes, the story is what hulu said, but it falls very short of capturing the essence of this flick. I believe I did see Vanilla Sky, but I don't remember it. I do not believe this movie will fade from my memory so easily.

I am surprised that none of the reviews I saw mentioned it was a foreign language film with English subtitles. This might mislead people to believe it was not a film up to our standards, and opt not to watch it. That would be a big loss to them, as this is a first rate flick. Thanks, hulu.

wow

way better than vanilla sky. much more info of the freezing more story. just more of eveverthing. I felt like i was going crazy too. In vanilla sky i guess they tried to make it more artsy,so they thought, by leaving out alot of things and keep you from fully expierencing it. So Open Your Eyes made me feel as i was really there. I even jumped in my seat a couple of times!

Penelope was better looking and better directed

This is a trip.

Open you eyes to good cinema. At the fraction of the cost. VS is BS at compare.

Look at the filmmaking of Del Toro, Iñarrutia, Alfonso Cuaron, Almodovar, and discover Mexican and Spanish filmaking.

I have never posted to any kind of forum ever and I have not seen VS. I watched this movie based on the previous reviews here on hulu that said the description of the movie was inaccurate and the one that said they were not prepared to be astonished...I agree 100% with both of them. Anyway, I hope the creator of this masterpiece received what he/she deserves: 1) recognition for creative genius--from their peers and from the audience at large; and 2) fair and adequate compensation from VS/TC. It would be yet another Hollywood tragedy otherwise. "Open Your Eyes" will keep your eyes glued to the screen from start to finish. Guaranteed. Thank you hulu et.al. Americans need to see more movies like this to stimulate our minds and to "open our eyes".
