It's everything I don't like about primetime television. It's campy, predictable, the humor is dry, gimmicky, and not very clever. It's cheesy and tries to be too slick for it's own good. It has a pretty amazing and great-looking cast, but the characters lack any depth or development, and their actual acting here, considering what I know some of these actors are capable of, is just... bad. It's unoriginal, and it has the same variety of characters almost every show like it has, except in a (wait for it...) KITCHEN!!!1 It completely tarnishes the name of the legendary Bourdain and his book and amazing Travel Channel show, and doesn't stay true to Bourdain's actual life, which in and of itself would've been interesting enough as a show, although admittedly too racy for cowardly li'l ol' Fox to air...
But I can't stop watching it. I just can't. It's addictive. It tries to be edgy and it is cheesy, but it knows that, and that's part of it's charm. It just somehow works with me. I'm 7 episodes into it, and I find myself wanting to cause pain to whatever executive decided to cut this show out without giving it a chance. Like other reviewers said, with the influx of popular cooking shows nowadays, this would have been a real winner, and I would've followed it religiously if it was still on the air. Amazing show.
