Almost two years later - A woman is brutally murdered on Pepparholm island at the base of the bridge. It turns out that the murdered woman is Margrethe Thormod, General Director of the Migration Agency in Copenhagen, and there may have found a motive in the scandal around a deportation decision that has gotten a lot of attention, and recently affected Margrethe personally. Henrik Sabroe starts to investigate the macabre murder with his Danish colleague, Jonas Mandrup. Henrik misses his colleague Saga Norén, who is incarcerated in the women’s prison in Ystad, convicted of murdering her mother. Henrik knows that Saga is having a hard time in prison and visits as often as she will let him. He wants her to help him with the new case, but Saga points to the fact that she isn’t a police officer anymore and can’t help him. The same thing applies to Henrik’s missing children, Saga can’t help and Henrik is on the brink of giving up his search.
Episode 2

Episode 2

Henrik and his new colleague, Jonas, continue to investigate Margrethe Thormod’s murder. Their two main leads are the radical leftist group, Red October, and the missing refugee, Taariq, who has gone underground after having his asylum application rejected. Margrethe’s husband Niels Thormod is grieving and doesn’t think that the police are doing enough to find Margrethe’s killer. Saga is in the hospital. She has now been declared innocent and wants to start working again. Henrik wants to have her on the investigation and Lillian finally accepts this. Saga quickly engages in the investigation and works almost twenty-four hours a day. Another murder victim is found in Sweden. There are connections to Red October, and a connection to Margrethe Thormod’s murder as well. Henrik can’t stop thinking about his missing daughters, but he wonders if he will have to, in order to move on. Saga doesn’t listen to Henrik’s doubts and continues to try to investigate what happened to them. She finds new information about Henrik’s wife, Alice, that she has to look into.
Episode 3

Episode 3

Richard, the Swedish journalist and expert on radical leftist groups is missing, but he suddenly turns up again and broadcasts live on the internet. He denies Red October’s involvement in the murder. Saga and Henrik question him and realize that what he is saying isn’t really accurate. Meanwhile, questioning continues with Taariq, who refuses to cooperate. They are certain that he knows more than he says and have a plan to expose him. The two homeless Danish girls still refuse to reveal their identities. Saga and Henrik search through their hiding place and find things that direct them to new leads. After her panic attack, Saga realizes that she isn’t doing well and goes to see a psychologist to get help. Henrik feels sorry for the two homeless girls who are involved in the investigation and does what he can to help them, something Saga questions. It becomes a little crack in their relationship.
Episode 4

Episode 4

Taariq is still at large. He has recognized the car that kidnapped Margrethe Thormod, and seeks out the owner in order to extort him for money. The car owner, Morgan Sonning, says in questioning that he was robbed by Taariq, that the car was in a repair shop in Sweden on the date of the murder and that he and his wife were on a trip in Germany. The question is if he and his wife are really telling them everything they know. A new murder at the hospital in Malmö seems to be connected to the two previous murders and Saga finally realizes how they are linked, and that the killing is probably going to continue. The girls run away from Henrik’s house. Henrik gets very upset and disappointed. He drives around and looks for the girls, but finds an old familiar face instead – Thomas, the drug dealer… Saga continues to go to therapy, but isn’t completely comfortable and wonders if it is really leading anywhere worthwhile.
Episode 5

Episode 5

The number of suspects grows. The taxi driver, Dan Brolund, who drove Margrethe Thormod and was the last person to see her alive, turns out to have connections to another victim as well. He is brought in for questioning. At the same time, suspicions about the Sonning couple grow. It comes out that Mrs. Sonning knew Margarethe, as they sat on the same board, and competed for the chairman position. Morgan and his wife are also each other’s alibi for all three murders. And Morgan’s brother, who owns the repair shop where Morgan claims to have left his car has a wife, Nicole, who borrows the cars now and then, despite the fact that the keys are locked up… Leadership at the Danish police are pressing Lillian and want to see an arrest as soon as possible. Saga has continued to investigate Henrik’s missing children, but feels like she has come to a dead end. Henrik is grateful that Saga tried, and he attempts to slowly face facts. Henrik has carefully considered an offer from Saga that will completely change their relationship. Saga continues to go to therapy and has been given an assignment to write down the names of people who have been important in her life and realizes that most of the people who have meant something to her are dead or otherwise gone. The one person who is left is Henrik.
Episode 6

Episode 6

Henrik thinks he has found the connection between all of the victims – everything relates to Tommy. All known people around Tommy are questioned and end up on the investigation board of suspects. They all have motive to seek revenge for Tommy’s death. Henrik discovers a completely unexpected, but well-known face on the investigation board. There is a deep split between Saga and Henrik. He does everything he can to avoid her. Saga tries to explain and admits that she did it all because she thinks that she is in love with him. But Henrik feels no understanding and drives her out of the house. Lillian notices that something is wrong and wants to know if they can continue to work together. Saga sneaks into Henrik’s house to get the investigation on his missing daughters. It is Saga’s only way back to Henrik.
Episode 7

Episode 7

The investigation on Tommy continues. Tommy’s mother, who is still in police custody, refuses to cooperate. She doesn’t talk to Saga or Jonas. The question is how long they can hold her if they don’t find any evidence. Niels Thormod comes up in the investigation again. It turns out that Niels has hired a private detective and hoped that he could find out something more than the police. Now the private detective has been reported missing. Lillian is hard pressed to solve the case and it seems as though there is someone in the police who is leaking about the investigation. Lillian has her suspicions. She gets a disturbing surprise when she comes home. Saga is called to Sweden when a young man wants to confess to killing his father. Saga realizes that his story has a connection to Henrik’s family’s past.

When everything seems to have fallen into place, and the case seems to be solved, there is one little detail that completely changes the playing field.
