Jessica directed her first feature film, an adaptation of her play Refuge, which is available on Amazon, iTunes, and Netflix. She also co-wrote the film Alex of Venice, directed by Chris Messina. She has written films for Universal Studios, Lionsgate, Warner Bros., HBO, and Focus Features. She has written on the television shows Deception, Camp, and Parenthood.
She is a graduate of NYU’s Dramatic Writing Program and the Juilliard School. Her play Refuge won the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize. She was a Tennessee Williams Fellow at The University of the South, a recipient of a Lecompte du Nouy stipend, the first annual Helen Merrill Playwriting Award, and a 2000 Berrilla Kerr Foundation Award. She has been a resident at the O’Neill Playwrights Conference, New River Dramatists, the Missoula Colony, and the New Harmony Project. She is a member of the Dramatist Guild and PEN American Center.
