In Hulu, our mission is to redefine the TV experience on your computer, on your mobile devices and in your Living Room. And the player team is at the pinnacle of the effort. The charter of the team, which has been in Hulu since the very first day is to provide the world’s best player to support the best playback experience for Hulu users. As a member of the player team you will be working on media framework, starting from low-level native player in our Webkit based runtime to player SDKs used by other internal teams and Hulu’s partners, all the way up to the player UX, user interaction and streaming QoS optimization. You will be part of the team that develops and maintains players that are used by millions of users. As a Quality Assurance Developer, you will engage with an experienced, responsive and vibrant team to conceive and design innovative playback features. You will collaborate closely, on a daily basis, with tens of front-end, back-end teams in Beijing, Santa Monica, Seattle and San Francisco on some of the toughest projects in Hulu.     



  • Creation of test plans and test reports for end-user facing players on our site, mobile site and Chromecast
  • Execution of manual test cases for these player
  • Issue tracking, both internally and in collaboration with other teams
  • Participation in both day-to-day software development workflows and release candidate testing
  • Maintain and improve the quality assurance tools and process of the team
  • Participation in improving player test automation framework
  • Participation in testing of various player components on Living Room devices and mobile devices



  • Minimum of 2 years of software testing experience
  • Strong desire for establishing and improving product quality
  • Experience with test tools, issue tracking system (preferably Jira)
  • Willingness to take challenges head on, while being part of a team
  • Knowledge of software engineering practices
  • Good written English communication skills
  • Good oral English communication skills is a plus
  • Experience with a scripting language such as JavaScript, Python, Ruby, etc. is a plus
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and tools such as Selenium, Rspec etc is a plus
  • S., M.S.. in Computer Science / Electrical Engineering or related field preferred
