Hulu’s Finance team is seeking a Staff II Accountant who will be an exceptional addition to our Subscription Accounting team. As a Staff II Accountant at Hulu, you will support the accounting activities related to the subscription business and will work with many different departments across the company in a proactive, self-directed manner. The Subscription Accounting team supports and partners with the business in a myriad of ways, including the recognition of subscription revenue across our differentiated product offerings for internally billed customers, integrated billing partners, and wholesale partners.  In addition, the Subscription Accounting team is heavily involved in supporting contract negotiations and the expense calculations and remittance process for our programming partners and device partners.The right person for this role a professional with the resourcefulness to take on any assignment, think through it, and readily grasp the most efficient and effective way to reach the goal.   • Collaborate with the Development team to assist in implementing new business initiatives in internal systems which involves coordinating testing efforts across multiple Development teams, and requires strong understanding of debits and credits
  • Assist in daily revenue and cost monitoring in collaboration with the Development team
  • Identify process improvements by collaborating with the Development team to create and/or improve new and existing internal systems and processes
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of process documentation for the subscription accounting cycle
  • Provide support for the annual financial statement audit, periodic internal audits, periodic programmer audits, and tax requests
  • Support the accounting function of our subscription business, including the preparation of month-end journal entries and reconciliations and preparing license fee calculations for our programming partners as needed
  • Support ad hoc analyses and projects


  • B.S. degree with a major or emphasis in Accounting from an accredited college or university
  • 2-3 years of accounting experience
  • Sound technical knowledge of basic accounting principles required
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft business suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization
  • A proactive, self-directed approach with the ability to multi-task, think creatively, and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional organizational skills, detail-oriented mindset, and a high sense of urgency
  • Strong work ethic with the ability and flexibility to work extended hours during critical periods such as month and year-end
  • Must be team oriented with a positive attitude and a fit with our Hulu culture


  • Previous work experience with a Big Four public accounting firm preferred
  • Industry experience in media and/or entertainment
  • Experience using Workday financials
  • CPA license
