These are the 45 minute TV shows (no commercials) done between the last two movies #25 Zatoichi's Conspiracy and #26 Zatoichi. There was a several year time frame between those last two movies. BTW when you see #26 he's much older.

Agreed, he's not exactly dashing. But it seems most of the women who fall for him have been treated horribly by most of the other men in their lives, and then they meet Zatoichi, who is kind, strong, and good with kids. Consider their options at the time. Many are involved with the yakuza, which means they probably have to marry one. A few of them are prostitutes. At least one is being physically abused by another man. Another is about to be forced to marry a complete stranger. The list goes on. See 12 other replies
