Its a fact that some people are put off immediately by subtitled shows. Those people should not watch subtitled shows. Those people should request a dubbed version in addition to the subtitled version. No one should request a dubbed version instead of a subtitled version.People who would watch anime that is dubbed should know that they aren't going to get the entire show. Some things will be left out or misunderstood. Anime is a cultural phenomenon unique to Japanese culture, it doesn't translate completely to English . The best way to truly understand an anime is to try to understand from the Japanese perspective that created it. It is probably best, then to watch the subtitled version first, then watch the dubbed version. There will be nuances that come to light when both translations are appreciated. This, of course, is probably too much work for many viewers. I get it. Time is limited, and maybe there are some things about anime a person likes (maybe the art), but they don't want to read. So don't read. Request a dubbed version. Just don't take the subtitled version away, because people who really want to appreciate anime will want the subtitled version.
