I enjoy watching this. There's a lot of style and suave. However it does not have as much in the form of brilliance to be expected from one of the best of FBI agents and of criminal minds.

I just enjoy this. I know it's nothing new, but if I enjoy it, isn't that enough? Character, plot, etc. development can come later. Networks don't seem to want to commit to developing characters and all, unless the money is there for it to continue. So, I am going to keep watching, maybe they will hear me and not ax it just when it's getting good, like John Doe.

This show looks like it's a template to follow the soon to be 'free' Monk followers. I don't like the half-arsed attempt at something so close to Monk with searching for a lost wife, nor do I like the many plot holes.
I wish this show had some development, like character development. Maybe 3-4 episodes where the main actor proved himself with small street crime solving, and giving us more insight into his street skills past a few things in the 1st episode. These guys should be working smaller profile cases that require wit and skill, then build up to higher profile cases... The second episode with cheaply setup spy vans, etc. didn't seem to fit at all. These guys should be working cases in offices, not huge setup. The whole mysterious neighbor next-door isn't working for me, nor is the 'lost wife' - It's trying to follow Monk too closely and failing. It should stick to smaller crimes that the FBI cannot solve that the main character can due his past street smarts. Instead it's morphed into a crime show where the main character just has this 'random insight' without much reasoning. I do not care about this guys mysterious past that takes away from the show, or the weird neighbor / ex-con next door. This show's going to fade out in a season or two max if it doesn't fix the inconsistencies and plot holes / random off-shoots. Love Monk, this show should stick to smaller street-crimes rather than FBI vans, etc. anymore.

Both shows scratch the same itch, but New Amsterdam does it better.

I think this is a great show. I would compare it to The Mentalist or Monk.
It is nice to see a show that is more than just sex, drugs and grisley murders.

The pilot was awesome. Unfortunately, this episode was disappointing. The security device on his ankle was taken off pretty easily. I thought they talked about how difficult it would be to take it off. What the heck?

Matt Boomer may be TV's most handsome leading man. He manages to portray the main character, Neal Caffrey, in a manner that goes beyond the clever writing of "White Collar" and leaves the viewer waiting to interpret the emotion of his every look and move. Matt Boomer's Neal Caffrey is complex, visually and emotionally a winner.
While writers may be presenting a premise that stems from that wonderful old show "It takes a Thief," they manage to produce it in a way that is fresh, satisfying and altogether new. Without great writing this concept might not fly but the geniuses we will never see on screen (the writers) are delivering style and emotional depth that leaves us impatient to view the next episode. This series isn't about realism as much as it is about offering characters we can connect with, emotions we want to feel and the lure of a back story that we will never feel is solved quickly enough. It is a winning formula. If you want realism, you can watch reality TV but if you want a vacation from your life, try a quick getaway with "White Collar."
