The date on IMDB is correct. The show debuted March 1994. If you have the DVD set and watch the commentary, the actors discuss filming the first episode in October 1993 and the show airing on the network 6 months later.

You must be confusing the TV series with the movie. 1990 is way before the first airing.

Does anyone know when this show first aired? I don't want the false dates they show here, or on IMDb, I want to know the original date of the pilot episode.
The reason I ask is this, I saw the pilot episode "She's Alive" one Saturday morning in 1990, on the USA Network. I remember the year because, later that day, after seeing this episode, I took my girlfriend to the Back to the Future triple feature, the day after Back to the Future 3 opened in theaters. Her, and I discussed the movie Weird Science, on the way to the show, and I mentioned having seen the episode that morning.

I'm a big fan of Weird Science and was totally stoked when I found the series on hulu. Big thanks hulu. But if I was going to be honest about the series as a whole then it must be said that the series is really a hit and miss type of show. And everything doesn't fall into place.

I'll even confess that the beautiful Vanessa Angel kept me hooked on the series. I don't know if I would have finished the series without her. I've just started to watch the series again so this review shouldn't be taken too serious because I only remember some of the best moments. I also remember that the show had some pretty silly moments. Too silly for its own good.

Fans of only hardcore sc-fi will be more than disappointed with this one. Also fans of only comedy will be disappointed with this one. But like Sliders, the creators decided to go with a combo order. They just ordered a little more comedy than sc-fi.
