Like so many reviews prior to this i find this movie entertaining and at best... great! For those who seek to find modern tech applications such as CGI and those applied in movies like matrix and the like then this movie is not for you. For those who enjoy the combinations of japanese poetry, japanese theather and at its best implementation of simple yet effective props then you got your self a treat. The movie is a fantasy, action, romantic tragedy as mentioned below a classical japanese romeo and juliet, but in this case it has an added twist that transcends between the realms of human and spiritual worlds, of course there are other movies out there that have plots of spirits falling in love with humans but this movie goes beyond the normal thinking and delves in the world of evil. What i enjoy about the movie is that like so many japanese classical/era movies it shows the different mind set or belief regarding spirits and of the extra ordinary. It has a distinct japanese tone to it, i like the part where the whole plot itself is put in a gyst in an artistic form of poetry and in the end it becomes an integral part of the whole story. I also agree that the story has a subtle sensual undertone observed and enjoyed only by those with artistic taste which means if you missed it then i guess you better stick on movies with more flesh and skin in it. This movie is one of the best i have seen, while it lacks the special effects mentioned by some the story of love that trancends human form and goes well beyond of the realm is in my book a well made and worth the watch.
