terrible acting! i thought the premise has been done to death in the 80's,i guess they are gonna bring it back!...brooklyn "rain" was ok i guess and of course faye dunaway was excellent....but everyone else sucked sooooo bad,i mean it was like a car wreck i could not look away.....the thug and ms whitney were the worst by far!!!

Amazing how Faye Donaway anchored that movie, it really would have been unbearable without her.

A feel good story with some challenging moments. I refuse to get into the whole race thing. I just saw an underpriviliged girl with too much talent and overpriviliged people who needed to be reminded what being human is.

Great movie. It gives a new meaning to being a black woman. It shows the many struggles of black woman and living the lives that we do. Everyday is a struggle but it's all about how you get through it. This movie is a prime example of that. Not saying race has anything to do with it but this movie has many lessons like no matter where a person is from, it doesn't define you nor mean that thats where you have to stay. This movie gives a new meaning of black and shows how things are different for majority of whites seem as though most things are served to them on a silver patter while blacks have to struggle and work hard to get to where they want but still have an life long title on them.

if race was significant ,i would have to admit that i'm african-american,however,it is not. Most of you thought this movie was stereotypical,so pardon my disagreeing. In this movie there is a poor black girl raised in the hood..which is true for most of us,including myself..There is also the prestigous white woman..which is also true for quiet a number of them as well...Those were not stereotypes,but simply facts no one likes to talk about. I LOVED THIS MOVIE, because the black girl was able to diffuse the STEREOTYPE that all black people are ill mannered and obstreperous...while the white lady was able to dismiss the STEREOTYPE that all white people are egotistical and stuck in the mindset that they are the superior race to all others.the movie is a great watch ! It reminds you of whats significant in life , like love..& whats insignificant, like race.....who cares that its a low budget film , i assume your on Hulu because its free.[i WATCH IT YOU"LL( L O V E )IT:):):) -Tabriesha
