I do wonder if there was an untreated mental illness or other issue that contributed? His mother was taking 26 medications while she was pregnant with him in 1960. They didn't say why she was taking the medications. The drugs could have had a horrible effect on his brain or body. Since 1960 there have been huge advances in medicine and we know so much more about the importance of a healthy pregnancy. We also know that chemical imbalances make life very difficult and how better to treat flawed brain chemistry.
Jefferey didn't seem to be evil, he had unexplainable and destructive urges. I will never understand the urge to do what he did. He seemed to struggle with the idea of being a functioning member of society, and just always seemed to fail at it. I would have to learn so much more about him because this movie only gives you a little bit of information about him. This movie helped the viewer to understand what the Dahmer family went through. I was a child growing up in Milwaukee when he got caught. Media was not very kind to the Dahmer family and this made me understand their point-of-view.
My question is...would things have happened the same with the changes in laws and medicine over the years?
