Well, one fact is Apple does have a better warranty and after sales service, as well as better overall quality of its hardware components, not to mention an operating system that is just simple to use and doesn't fight you every step of the way when you're trying to do something. That and today's mac can run windows natively if you want to play games or run windows only program.
When I got my first mac (which is very recent, as I have always been a Windows user) I really hesitated because macs really do cost more than a PC of similar spec. I often played game on a PC so having a good graphics card was important, and macs don't have good graphic card unless you spend over 2000 dollars on an upper end 15" Macbook Pro. However what got me to make the plunge was the fact that macs do have a much better battery life, better weight to performance ratio (which is important when you're always on the go). My last PC was an Acer 5920G and I will tell you it weights a TON, which was why I left it at home and only took it when absolutely necessary. In addition it can barely manage 2 hours of idle time when on battery, and this is on a fresh battery too. On the other hand the 13" Macbook pro doesn't weight that much (only 2.5 Kg), has fantastic battery life (Apple claims 7 hours with wifi, but in practice for me its about 5 hours of normal usage, which is significant because that means I don't have to frantically look for an AC outlet when I am at a coffee bar), and sturdy construction. I mean, how many PC's use CNC milled aluminum as a chassis?
As far as price goes, if you think Macbooks are overpriced, wait until you see a similarly speced Sony Vaio, and they aren't even built to the same quality as a Macbook.
