It's not a matter of bringing it back to Earth so much as it's a matter of staking their claim and creating colonies, therefore creating demand for local production.Also, much of the Earth has very problematic environmental problems for mining companies. That huge Alaskan mine that they want to build up there has serious environmental risks.The risk of environmental disaster on our own planet is removed if these mining companies are allowed to stake their own claims within the solar system.It may also be much easier to extract heavy metals and rare earths from planets and moons with lower gravity.Mining would come first just as it did with California   See 13 other replies

I agree that NASA is a joke. We need companies to develop their own space exploration. Especially mining companies. As long as our space exploration is in the hands of the Government it will not flourish.   See 13 other replies

NASA contributes a huge amount to us. Many new vaccines are made doing reasearch on the international space station because viral and bacterial growth happens much faster in a low grav enivroment. Not to metion computer adavances, robotics advances increased information about the climate, and how atmospheres work. We get tons from NASA.   See 13 other replies

I checked out that website and its pretty stupid. You can't simply pick up aluminum or titianium fro the ground. It has to be processed, and the smaller the amount in that particular piece of crust the more labor and energy intesive it is to retrieve it. The fact is that resources are scarce. An infinite money supply? I believe zimbabwai tried that. You can see the wheelbarrows of money being pushed to the market to buy food. You cannot have infinite money without infinite resources. Fixed prices for all raw materials? What happens when there is a drought of locusts on a farm? What happens when a vein is tapped out. When new technologies are developed that require different materials are those in power going to respond in time? We know that supply and demand will do all those things.
