Only good thing about this movie was the beautiful scenery, which was the main reason I wanted to watch and continue watching this piece of cr-ap. A bunch of depraved, immoral, short-lived, fickel relationships, all based on how good someone is, in bed. It is racist with unrealistic plot, bad acting, propogates stereotypes of another culture. I couldn't wait for this piece of trash to end. This movie sucks! Watched it, just for something to do to pass a lazy Sunday. Gave it 2 stars, just for the exotic environmental scenery.

A movie, shot on location in Tahiti, Moorea and Bora-Bora, with beautiful women and hunky men, a cheesy sound-track from the 70's (even though the movie was made in 1987)... so much potential, what could go wrong? Acting, Directing, Editing... and most importantly, Script Writing. Still, for her part, French Polynesia carried the day, and a star is born! It all comes down to one pivotal scene, where the main character could kill her abusive husband with a machete or reconcile. One decision is worth 5 stars, the other, only 3.

First, I watched this movie because I was interested about the islands of Tahiti. It's interesting to see how nature and human make culture there in 1968. A foreigner can actually build his own hut by the beach back then ? That's wild ! I wish I was there back then.I'm sure if I go there now, it's a whole different story. Sad that nature is getting destroyed by the minute, including the native culture.Asides from the story, I was intrigued by the scenery of the island which was half the reason I watched the movie in the first place. Very beautiful and it didn't disappoint. I love these beautiful European movies where visuals plays a big part of the story.

-Plot is very weak and not much substance.
-A couple of very nice nude scenes
-The kind of "acting responses", from the husband and wife is terrible. THIS WOULD SIMPLY NOT HAPPEN.
-The film's location is beautiful.

I totally agree with Christina's review, Bora Bora was boring. I almost fell asleep.

the acting was so terrible, the directing was bad, it had a good plot and could have been a great movie if the actors and dialogue were better.
and some of the scenes are just plain stupid, like when the wife goes back to her white husband, and he sends her polynesian lover into their hut with her to make love one last time and see if the polynesian could win her back.
well, i just think the makers could have had a great hit here instead of this cheesy piece.
