Great Doc and story. Great connections and learning expiences. But I think many are forgeting that these are just kids. Kids don't like the cold, or walking for hours, or pushing themselves through pain and suffering for the glory of a summit. Some adults like this somehow and unfortunately want to drag innocent people into their world. The goal for all from the start should have been to learn, and unite, and have fun, and turn back together as a group. Base camp should have been the summit! How many people have even been there? Or even close.
Some of the guides wanted to sumit for the sake of it, for themselves, and you could see how the lack of oxygen affected them in their judgements. It was addressed quickly but never followed up. The push was too much for a summit with kids. Lukily Sabriye says something under the attack of her being overprotective. Overprotective? Really, do you lead youth high peak trips? Children under 18 are extremly influenced by anyone, and it's hard to find their true feelings as shown on a few different parts when the kids were tired. Maybe something more mellow where danger wasn't the main factor would be a better learning envirionment. Just learning rock climbing would have been great. Check 20;45 " I thought these kid knew how to lower." Um.. really?
I thank everyone for their work with this project and send my blessings to all. These children really impressed me. They sing and smile. And Grow!
