Hulu - Movie Trailers: The Wolfman

I remember the trailer for Underworld and that proved to be very good; I am hopeful that this movie is as good or better than that one.

Anthony Hopkins in another gothic horror monster movie gives me flashbacks to Keanu Reeves ruining the otherwise watchable 90s 'Dracula' remake with the always fascinating Gary Oldman. Hopkins is an epic actor, but it is hard not to compare this to that.

Taken on it's own, this movie does look promising. Del Toro is the perfect choice.

I have not seen it or even read about it, but already can tell from the formulaic nature of the preview and the fact that they have given us too much information simply to fill seats. The film will certainly end with the love interest ultimately killing Benicio's character with a silver bullet in a heart-wrenchingly lame and cliched ending. I personally like fresh and original plot lines, and suspect that this film will be more of a grotesque horror/action ride. Great actors in this, but I have a strong feeling that this flick is going to be disappointing.

Zombies feel overplayed, Vampires have become angsty teenage metaphors or virtual demigods, and long-haired Japanese ghosts cease to terrify.
It's good to see some variety in monsters once in a while.

This is definitely a new take on an old movie, but from this trailer, keeps true to the original. Being a fan of similar films, like Van Helsing, I will seriously consider seeing this film, that's for sure.
