Haven't seen such clever writing since "The Usual Suspects" or "The Game", but this movie has lots more humor thrown in which offsets some of the intensity. Helps if you know something about the military struggles of Ireland, and if you are used to the thick brogue. This guy was just totally fantastic in the main role ... lots of surprises, wit, funny stuff, suspense, intrigue, gore, and sentimentality. It's all there. GREAT FLICK.
