sure, it could be better, but overall it's quite good. it's certainly better than the ultra-violent anime that passes for entertainment these days. it's right up there with many of the marvel comics productions that were done in the late 90's like spiderman and the x-men. no, it's nowhere as good as the superb justice league series or justice league unlimited series or superman and batman series done by bruce timm and company.
still, it's quite good. there's drama; there's tension and there's some action. what is most appealing to me is the fact that zera and cornelius really care about their new friends and vice versa. that's really quite beautiful and i don't understand how some reviews choose to overlook that quality. general urko is a relentless villian. he never stops and he's never met a human that he likes. he's kind of terrifying. he reminds me of present day racists who would never accept anyone different from themselves.
did i also mention that this is one of the few cartoons to have an african-american character which is hardly the norm in animated series even today except for the bruce timm productions like the justice league and justice league unlimited.
it really is a horrible future depicted in this series, but that's what i kinda like about it. it's not sugar-coated for a children's audience.
and i agree with zera, blue eyes is beautiful...lol...they should have stripped him down like charlton heston...lol. did i also mention that dr. zaeus is really no better than urko.
