i love our trio. i really do, but they're always confusing me with talk of traveling back home. they are home. the planet of the apes is not another planet; it's earth's future two thousand years hence. so, even if they had another spaceship where exactly would they be traveling in space?
come on all you would be physicists out there, help me out. even in the future, wouldn't earth be occupying the same space and orbit. sure, the future earth looks like a desert, but it still has a sun and a moon. they weren't ripped out of their orbit.
why is it that no one ever suggests that they build a time machine? even in the planet of the apes movies, there was one where zera and cornelius and the sal mineo character traveled back to earth in a spaceship. once again i ask, how is that possible? the planet of the apes wasn't on another planet. it was earth. so, when zera and cornelius and the sal mineo character came to earth, they were returning to the past of their planet earth.
well, that's that. i still say they need to be directing their energies toward building a time machine.
oh, did i mention that i love this little series? it's cute and i love the friendship and camaraderie between the trio and zera and cornelius. it's really beautiful to watch. forget about the kids watching this. it's the adults who could take a lesson.
as for general urko, wouldn't it be great if he were just a cartoon character? but that's not the case. his brand of racism is still alive and well thirty-five years later. it goes by a different name and new-fangled movements. yet it's still the same old stale hate and bigotry that never seems to go out of style whether it's two thousand years in the future or two thousand years in the past.
one more thing i have to acknowledge: there's actual a viable african-american character in this series which was rare thirty-five years ago and is still rare now. the cleveland show is hardly viable.
