Cyalumes are your fireflies in a tube. The reason using fireflies hasn't caught on is for the same reason cyalumes haven't revolutionized household lighting. Cyalumes are too uneconomical, unreliable and cumbersome to be used for day-to-day lighting.

They don't pass muster even for emergency lighting. They are affected by the cold. Try using one on a cold night. They also go bad and break from being jarred. A couple years ago I bought dozens for a fishing trip. I was dismayed that I only had three (barely) working light sticks after snapping one after the other. See 4 other replies

Well, who cares about who cares? You want to post, you post, right? If people want to add to your discussions, they add. If they don't, they just move on... so if you don't want to think about insects as alternative renewable energy sources (and by the way, the discussion was about ENERGY, not FUEL... This show is great. Especially without a laugh track(live audience). Hints of Malcom in the Middle when Ted speaks into the camera, but besides that just a great feel good funny show

I think this show hints at the formula that worked for Arrested Development. However, I think they only let it remain at similarities. They don't exactly rip off anything from AD's style. The narration use is comical, really. Ted doesn't narrate with his thoughts like Scrubs did (their gimmick). He actually talks to the camera. Everyone in the show is weird and crazy in some way. His version of "crazy" is that he talks to the camera. I think it's clever without trying to be something it's not. Allie McBeal was cliche' and deliberate with it's comedy. Clever was not it's repertoire. Arrested Development is the benchmark for clever. Ted is closer by far than most shows as of late.
