Larry Miller and Lindsey Shaw. Larry benefits tremendously from being more likable and more vulnerable (and therefore more complex and nuanced) than I've ever seen him before, and Ms. Shaw is just a terrific young actress with real presense. Between her soft, soulful eyes, her strong jawline, and the skill and precision with which she uses them, Kat is about as real and fully-formed as you could expect on this kind of show.
The show itself is as pleasant little ditty. Reading the reviews tells me that apparently, the movie version was something special, and for some people this seems to saddle the show with expectations that it can't live up to. I never saw the movie, but I am a former literature major with a good background in Shakespeare... and in my opinion, while the Bard could probably have done better himself, he'd be pleased as hell to still be a pop culture reference 400 years later, and he'd see signs of his influence here.
Those scenes between Larry Miller and Lindsey Shaw are the best part, good enough to make me want to keep watching.
