Its sixties ideals of tolerance and diversity--maybe not thought of in those terms then--is written all over its sleeve in this one, but the obviousness of it all didn't prevent me from enjoying the events. The different "ethnic flavor" of this episode helps it quite a bit, though I was a little worried this would turn out to be a dud when they jettisoned the idea of neo-nazis being the villains. It does drag a bit in the middle, but there's some beautiful location filming toward the end, and Greg Mullavey ("Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman") as one of the bad guys is young and hot, and having some nice eye candy never hurts. The effort to reconcile blacks and jews as parts of the overall tapestry of the neighborhood may strike some as clumsy but I see it as worthwhile. Strictly a low actioner, though, unless you count seeing people eat apple streudel as action.
