This is a good program of an event that actually used to take place and probably sadly still does. Ironside is a great show along with other shows of the time like Hawaii Five-O, Adam-12, and Dragnet. Too bad there aren't more shows on now like this one.

The team goes undercover at a swanky hotel (which I believe was actually the Hotel Coronado in San Diego) to con a con man who has swindled Mark's aunt out of her life's savings. Nice start to the 3rd season, with a tight little script that really moves along and some punchy editing. As the previous reviewer noted, it's the kind of scenario seen many times since, but perhaps it was newer here. The guest stars -- tall, charming Joseph Campanella and Beah Richards, looking younger here than I've ever seen her before -- add to the quality, non-padded feel of the episode. It's also fun to watch Ed and Eve play hubby and wife. The only minus in my mind is there's no action; it's all about the act.

This episode features a con game that has been shown in other shows of the period. But it also has a nice twist that makes it stand out better. And there is a blond woman that might seem familiar. She's Pat Priest, formerly of the Munsters. You can catch Eddie Munster on an episode of the original Adam-12. On 60's shows, especially Westerns, Police, or Sci-Fi, you might see the same character actors in supporting roles in dozens of shows. I never minded it, because you got reliably good performances (otherwise they wouldnt be hired for multiple guest appearances) and it was kind of like seeing an old friend when you did. Then there were "A" list actors, such as in this episode. Jack Lord appeared in an episode of Ironside before Hawaii 5-0. As a criminal, he was unnerving in his role. He showed grit that showed he would make a "Top Tough Cop" amongst the palm trees and waves. You believed him.
