Seriously what exactly do you guys(and I know there are no female fans) like? The art is dreadful. I can't understand why make such ugly people, unless you don't want to make ugly audience members feel bad. These guys are all muscle and eyebrows. If they were real Id suggest that they do a steroid check. That would also explain their bad tempers and lack of interest in the opposite sex. The plot is always the same. They need to go kill someone who possesses some kooky martial arts form and can't be defeated. But they will always be defeated by Kenshiro. Kenshiro doesn't even have to really fight. He just needs to holler really loud and they will drop dead, mostly. Once in a while we cut to the others who will say something pout of a fortune cookie about the "North Star". Whenever Keny does his ayaaaahaa scream thing, I feel embarassed for him. How hokey can a cartoon get? Dragonball is fun because it makes fun of itself. This isn't being sarcastic. Its being serious. Lets face it, Dragonball maybe fun, but its not in any way special. The only people that should like this are adolescent boys. Its understandable for them, because when you are growing up, it is helpful for something to be so simple and black and white, where you can pretend to be a hero. No harm in that. But after your teens, this should seem silly.

I saw a lot of other series in this, between the multi-episodic battles that eventually show up in Dragonball and the beaten down but come back and win Heroic feats of Kenshiro its pretty amazing to see something with such depth in an anime where half of the combatants end up with exploding body parts or sliced apart. For what its worth the series is good, thought the second part does sort of feel added on, especially with the birthland of Kenshiro and the connections between him and all the major characters, but overall I liked it more than I thought I would. After only seeing a subset of the episodes up to the battle with Shin I thought there was not much more to it, but I was surprised to see how detailed everything got and how Kenshiro grew over time.

Holy cow, I just saw the whole series and was truly impressed, leaving me with a mixed bag of positive feelings. Strangely, this show has had more of an impact on me than the countless other animations I've had the pleasure of viewing. My original introduction to this anime was the Streamline Pictures release of FOTNS which I had always enjoyed and the dubbed ShoTime airings of Hokuto no Ken a few years ago but it seems they only had the 1st part of the series since I think no other episodes were ever dubbed. Anyway, I didn't know there was so much more to the series and quite grateful I was able to watch it in it's entirety. One thing that keeps my head swimming are the endless twists and turns, pretty ingenious on the writer's part I'd say. Now this is what anime is all about! Great storyline, great fighting, dozens of strangely named techniques, nearly indestructible villains, tragic love story, etc. Wished it would just keep going. Highly recommended.

Over the course of a few weeks i have actually sat and watched this entire anime series. I saw hints of whats was to come in action anime for the next twenty years and action movie themes.
Of course there are the "filler" episodes but they are smart and concise, don't feel like they are wasting your time with them. More like they are catching you up to the story line. I thought that was great as most "filler " episodes suck. That gripe aside.
This series is so groundbreaking and before its time its ridiculous.
The art style in itself let me understand at least the speed the moved in well before dbz . Over the course of the series I saw the parallels in movies like the "matrix", any Jet Li, Bruce Lee, Or Tony Jaa film.
The battles are what I thought they should be like if fighters were really at that level of their art. The fluidity of the movements along with names that each had associated with it was in itself worth going from episode to episode for.
When Hyoh tells Black Yaksha that "I am going to hit all 1,109 pressure points on your body at the same time!" I was like "1,109" places at one time...
This series carries itself like that where i was like he "could" do that ( i think its eps 142 or 141).
The end was worth it because i do think that is the underlying theme on a lot of things.
I have been vague so i hope you enjoy the depth of this series.

I loved this series, and this episode as well as a few others almost made me tear up...
