Actually not. A lot of people such as myself who enjoyed GREASE wanted to see where these all began. After checking out GIDGET the obvious choice are the AIP produced Frankie-Annette beach movies Beach Party, Muscle Beach Party, Bikini Beach, Beach Blanket Bingo and How to Stuff a Wild Bikini. All are available on HULU, Fancast or You Tube (with the exception of Bikini Beach). AIP produced a series of similar films off the beach with many members of the same cast and sometimes one or two same character (Pajama Party, Ski Party, the two Dr. Goldfoot movies, Ghost in the Invisible Bikini and this film.) They also made three racing films Fireball 500, Thunder Alley and The Wild Racers which were more serious. Deadhead came in the middle somewhere and by that time people were quite familiar with most of the cast (Frankie, Deborah Walley, Eve Arden, Buster Keaton, Harvey Lembeck and a few others) and it was interesting to see them out of high school and in a military comedy. The silliness of the comedy and the songs was something typical with most of these films. I think if you've seen most of the films that came before this in this series you know what you are getting into.
