Live from the Artists Den: The Hold Steady

I just noticed that the lead guitar on the first song of "The hold" Episode songs extremely similar to Asian Kung-fu Generation's song "rewrite"

First off, the Hold Steady has a great fan base and they deserve it. Being from the Twin Cities, I know what a great following this band has. This doesn't excuse the fact that the singer sounds drunk on every album and live performance they've had. He has some really great things to say, but he has trouble getting that past his gums in a legible fashion. I love the guitar/keys/drums/bass and the songs are great, they are just spoiled by lazy yammering. Even rock bands need singers who can enunciate.

I love the Hold Steady but it seems like the sound is bad on this concert. It sounds like the singer is out of key the entire time. Were there no monitors on stage? Was the singer to drunk to care? What is up?

Also, It seemed like the vocals were turned up way louder than the band (could be my setup I guess).

Hulu, COME ON! The Hold Steady is an amazing band, but ADS IN THE MIDDLE OF SONGS?!?! That is extremely poor presentation of what would otherwise be an awesome video of a great band.

Do better.

I've seen this band many times in Detroit and at Lollapalooza. Amazing Band. Perhaps the most honest band around. I've even jumped up on stage with them only when they've invited the crowd of course. However, I don't remember them stopping mid-song to advertise some loser show on FLN. This advertising thing needs to stop, HULU. Someone call Baldwin and Leary and tell them stop this crap.

Just introduced to the group through Artist's Den and the more I heard the more I liked...Awesome Venue and the Group played to it perfectly...Amped up Brooklyn Garage band meets ...I don't know...MinneapolisMusicSceneSLASHSprinsteen...What? Crazy KooKoo Good! Lyrics are on point, Musical riffs, blended and balanced like a Rita's Water Ice on a hot summer night - eat it fast and you'll get brain freeze... LIKE IT!!! When they play Philly I'm there with a crew.

Their joy is absolutely infectious. If you get the chance to see them at a smaller venue it's the greatest experience on the planet. I was lucky enough to see them at the Fargo Theater, a venue about the size of the one on this video and it almost killed me- in the best way.
