Having studied art, construction and a little bit of history watching this film brings to light that amazing accomplishments made in both construction of buildings, monuments and buildings from the early Egyptian through Roman, Greek, middle ages, the Renaissance, right on through to the modern era. The examples of art used in construction is nothing short of amazing. The ability of early man in construction of the many massive structures using brain, muscle and mechanical power gives on pause when one realizes that these people did not have computers with which to do their computations and designs of the structures. Perhaps man kind has gained much in the travels through history to the modern times but in my opinion man kind has also lost much in that march. This film just wakes one up to the fact that the pride we sometimes have in our modern era with the much vaulted electronic assistance we enjoy has caused the loss of something much more important. That is the appreciation and pride one can have in the labors of creation of the works of art one envisions in the mind, then labors physically for years to make that dream come to light and its something that will last for centuries. I finally realized watching this film that the best times in my life occurred when I was much younger and worked hard physical labor all day for days on end but when finished I could stand back and say with pride that I built that. There does not seem to be much pride in ownership in todays economy. Very few people I have encountered demonstrate that pride in their work anymore. I do not believe that we are better for that lack.
