It's not just the music they edited, they also edited out dialog.
I am not referring to Fox censoring a swear word here or there when the show was broadcast.
I am talking about scenes of dialog that aired then but have been cut out now.
In the first episode, when Jenko tells Hanson and Ioke to stake out Weckerly, he tells them to take Ioke's car. You see Penhall's facial reaction but then it cuts to the stake out scene.
Portions of both of those scenes were cut out.
Originally, when Hanson asks Penhall what's so funny the reply is:
"This guy's like a Jerry Lewis on wheels... not funny but VERY SCARY!"
Then during the stakeout Ioke explains how the other officers think he does not drive well. But he claims it is because of the stereotype concerning Asian drivers. Hanson empathizes with "like Native Americans not being able to hold their liquor".
I could understand removing offensive racist/stereotypical material, but removing part of the show because it DISCUSSES stereotypes?
I am not advocating racism by any means, but ignoring a problem and pretending it does not exist will not make it go away.
If it did, ostriches would be at the top of the food chain, instead of being served as a delicacy.
