Jacob has to be evil, his interventions don't help at all. He seems nice, but he sets everyone up for the greatest problems later. Like Kate gets away with her first crime because he pays for the lunchbox, Sayid loses his wife, Hurley goes back to the island. I mean, he's just manipulative, isn't that the deal? The enhanced episode tells you what the tapestry says. They are lines from Homer's The Odyssey:"May the Gods grant thee all that thy heart desires

In the enhanced version of the Incident Part 1 it says that the beginning scene with Jacob happens over 140 years before the main story line. It's an early 1800's wooden sailing ship. So! It's not the Black Rock.....maybe Richard is on it..?   See 10 other replies
